At a recent event, DPL donated shoes to 24 children, in addition to the ongoing meals program carried out by the company. The meals program, has already provided up to 17,000 meals to students as of December 2023.
The Principal of the school acknowledged the pivotal role DPL plays, especially amid the challenging economic landscape. “It is a blessing for an underprivileged school like ours to have a company like DPL committed to helping us,” said the Principal.
He added, “DPL’s ongoing CSR efforts, including the meals program, have resulted in tangible improvements in attendance, physical and mental health, satisfaction, and concentration among students. The positive outcomes are making a substantial contribution to the overall learning experience at the school”.
DPL’s dedication to corporate social responsibility is not just a corporate initiative but a part of the ethos embraced by its executive employees. The Head of DPL Group Human Resources, Thusitha Perera, emphasized this commitment during the event. In his speech, he stated, “As a business organization with a strong sense of giving back to the community, we always strive to understand what the real needs of our communities are and how we can help address national concerns.”
He further highlighted the focus on tackling issues such as malnutrition and lack of access to resources in school children, recognizing the substantial impact these challenges have on national development. DPL’s CSR projects, exemplified by initiatives like “Sisu Divi Pahana,” aim to contribute to the improvement of health, education, and overall prosperity in the country.
The event showcased not only the generosity of DPL as a corporate entity but also the genuine concern and involvement of its employees in creating positive change within communities. As DPL continues its commitment to CSR efforts, the impact on Subashi Royal College serves as a beacon of hope for the broader community, demonstrating that collective efforts can indeed lead to meaningful change.
