We are delighted to announce the official commissioning of our rooftop solar initiative across all our manufacturing locations, including Thailand. The initiative was inaugurated during a momentous event, underscoring our commitment to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy as part of our ambitious ESG Roadmap for 2030, which targets achieving 95% renewable energy usage.
DPL has significantly expanded its solar power generation capacity with the deployment of a 4.5 MWp PV solar project across our local factories, alongside a newly added 1 MWp system in Thailand. This expansion brings our total solar capacity to an impressive 5.5 MWp, powering all six of DPL’s glove manufacturing locations with clean, sustainable solar energy.
Pushpika Janadheera, Managing Director at DPL, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “By investing in renewable energy, we are not only ensuring a sustainable future for our business but also for the planet. Energy is no longer just a commodity; it’s a responsibility, and DPL is proud to lead by example.”
The shift to solar power significantly reduces our reliance on carbon-intensive grid electricity, thereby minimizing our environmental footprint. Additionally, our rooftop photovoltaic (PV) solar systems contribute to the grid during surplus periods, helping offset carbon-emitting energy sources and fostering a cleaner energy mix.
Chandika Rathnasiri, Director of Engineering and Projects at DPL Group, highlighted the significance of the project in achieving our ESG goals. “By harnessing solar energy, we are not only reducing our environmental impact but also inspiring other businesses to follow suit. As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to exploring further renewable energy solutions to drive positive change.”
DPL remains committed to sustainability and innovation, driving meaningful progress toward a greener, more sustainable future.
